Moon Holding Earth - A Framed Fine Art Print

I imagined a love story between the moon and the earth and then visualized it.
I think a lot about celestial bodies as human bodies. The stories and relationships between them, the interactions, the arguments, the love. I had this image of the moon grappling and wrestling the Earth body. Centering and pushing and holding. Gravity and momentum keeping her so constant and secure, and yet so imperceptibly slowly pulling away. With each rotation, stepping a small breath away.
about the prints
An 11" x 14" giclee print.
Archival pigments on Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper. Framed in white under a shadow box display. Each print is float mounted to give it the effect that it is suspended in air within the frame.
Also available unframed. Please inquire here or email studio@arlinacai.com if you're interested in this piece.
series inspiration
I was inspired by a short story by the Italian surrealist writer Italo Calvino to create this series.
“We had her on top of us all the time, that enormous Moon: when she was full - nights as bright as day, but with a butter-colored light - it looked as if she were going to crush us; when she was new, she rolled around the sky like a black umbrella blown by the wind; and when she was waxing, she came forward with her horns so low she seemed about to stick into the peak of a promontory and get caught there.” From Calvino’s Cosmicomics.
Please allow 2-3 weeks for your print to arrive.
